Mind the Gap: Striking a Balance Between Cloud and Data Security

On Demand

There was a time when having your head in the clouds meant you were an outsider. Today, if you aren’t moving your business to the cloud, you risk becoming an outsider in your own market.

According to a recent prediction by one of the world's top consulting firms, the global cloud IT market revenue will reach $390 billion in 2020, up from $180 billion in 2015.

The embrace of cloud is exciting for some, with some companies describing it as transformative or even revolutionary. Yet there are potential drawbacks.

Some enterprise leaders are concerned about losing control as they move to the cloud. Others are specifically concerned that there isn’t a foolproof method for migrating data and workloads to the cloud without loss of data and privacy.

As we proceed deeper into the cloud era, scalability and flexibility may be key, but businesses need to be mindful of any potential gaps between security and the cloud, and to strike the right balance between them.

Join IT World Canada CIO Jim Love and Albert Kramer, Technical Director Canada, Trend Micro, as they discuss new approaches to data security in the era of cloud and the special challenges presented by a rapidly emerging Internet of Things ecosystem. Among the topics to be discussed:
  • Top cloud performance and airtight security
  • Why the old approaches no longer suffice
  • Protection of data as a joint responsibility
  • Scalability and flexibility as keys to cloud strategy
  • Security cautionary tales in the business community
